Wolfgang Amadeus Mozartââ¬â¢s Works Essay - 275 Words
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Works (Term Paper Sample) Content: Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Works(Students Name)(Institutions Name)(Course)(Tutor)(Date)IntroductionWolfgang Amadeus Mozart (January 27, 1756 December 5, 1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the classical era. From his earliest childhood, Mozart showed prodigious capabilities. Already competent on violin and keyboard, from the age of 5 he began composing and performed before the European royalty. He was later to engage as a court musician in Salzburg. He visited Vienna in 1781 where he composed abundantly. It is while in that city of Vienna that he composed a majority of his best-known concertos, operas, symphonies, and portions of the requiem. The pieces to represent Mozarts works will be arranged based on their genres. The common threads were both compositional and chronological from 1761 to 1791, and they include: "Don Giovanni, a cenartecom'invitasti" (Don Giovanni K. 527); Twelve variations for piano on Ah, vousdirai-je, maman. K. 265/300; Divert imento in D Major, K. 131 V. Minuet; Concerto for violin and orchestra in G Major, K. 216 III. Allegro; Piano sonata in a minor Paris K. 310 I. Allegro; Symphony in G minor K. 183- Allegro con brio; Sinfonia Concertante K. 364 -- Allegro maestoso; (Aria) Non pià ¹andrai (Le nozze di Figaro K. 492); (Aria) "Queen of the Night" (The Magic Flute K. 620); Piano concerto No. 24 in C minor K. 491 I. Allegro; Symphony No. 41 "Jupiter" in C major K. 551; String quartet No. 19 in C major, K. 465 'Dissonance I. allegro and adagio; and finally, Requiem K. 626.Introitus - Requiem aeternam. This categorical arrangement makes it easier to relate to the specific genres that were developed by Mozart.DiscussionMozart was a versatile composer writing in every major genre, such as opera, symphony, solo concerto, piano sonata, and chamber music including string quintet and string quartet. Although these forms were not new, Mozart advanced their emotional reach and technical sophistication. Albert , Herman in W. A. Mozart argued that he almost solely developed and popularized the classical piano concerto. The major characteristics of classical style are all present in the music by Mozart. The hallmarks of his works include balance, clarity and transparency. 1. PianoThe piano is a vital instrument in Western classical music, jazz and other complex western musical genres. A majority of composers such as Mozart were great pianists. For example, Mozart often used the piano when composing chamber music as an accompaniment. In that respect, classical piano music comes in several musical genres. First, a concerto comprises of an orchestral ensemble a soloist or a smaller group. The piano is the solo instrument in a piano concerto. The concerto is comprised of three contrasting movements: fast, slow and fast. Notable piano concertos include Chopin - Piano Concerto No. 1 and Mozarts - Piano Concerto No. 1. Second is the piano sonata which is usually comprised of three to four move ments, with the first movement always in sonata form. Next is piano trio and it is one of the most common forms of chamber music involving a piano and two other instruments; although the common instrumentations include piano, cello and violin. The fourth genre is the piano quintet which involves a piano with four other instruments. Lastly, solo piano comes in several genres, such as prelude, etude, polonaise, mazurka, and nocturne (Green). The first selection for piano is Piano Sonata in A Minor Paris K. 310 I. Allegro. It was composed in Augsburg and Mannheim on November-December 1777.This work has three movements namely: allegro con spirit, andante con espressione, and Rondeau allegro. The first movement is in the form of a sonata. While its first subject has a quasi orchestral opening, the second subject in the dominant key is quieter. The second movement has an episodic structure A-B-A-B-A-coda. The last movement is a sonata rondo. This piece was selected because it has a slow c adenza-like passage that contains a quick ascending chromatic scale leading back to the first theme (Irving, 1997).Instruments: piano, cello and violin, and strings. The second selection of the piano is Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor K. 491 I. Allegro. It is a concertante work for piano and orchestra. This piece was composed by Mozart when he was 25 years old C. 1778 while he was staying in Paris from April to September of that of 1786. Instrumentation: 2 oboes, flute, 2 bassoons, 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 2 clarinets, strings, and timpani. It is the only piano concerto by Mozart that the soloist plays after the cadenza in the first movement. It is regarded as Mozarts greatest work. This piece as selected because it has scores featuring the piano.2. OrchestraOrchestral music usually covers all the musical works for eleven or more instruments. Raynor reported that the most popular form of orchestral music is symphony and it ranges from string symphonies making use of between 12 and 1 4 string players to the huge symphonies of Mahler, many of which need more than 100 players. Other forms in the orchestral category include orchestral dances, symphonic poems, overtures, and incidental music for plays. A typical symphony orchestra is made up of four groups of same musical instruments called the brass, percussion, woodwinds, and strings. John Sptizer and Neil Zaslaw in The Birth of the Orchestra: History of an Institution, 1650-1815 indicate that a smaller-sized orchestra of about 50 musicians or fewer is called a chamber orchestra, whilst a full-sized orchestra of about 100 musicians is sometimes be called a "symphony orchestra or chamber ensemble.Initially, orchestra music was composed of a standard core of instruments which were rarely modified. However, as time progressed, the Romantic period saw changes in accepted modification with composers in the 20th century beginning to hand-pick instrumentation. However, the modern orchestra has been standardized with t he modern instrumentation such as percussion, strings, woodwinds, and brass with keyboard accompaniment. There are a majority of miniatures of this type, with specific focus for the violin, flute, cello, clarinet and oboe, often with descriptive titles. For somewhat larger appetites, there are also many accompanied sonatas dating from the period of Baroque onwards, usually in three or four movements corresponding roughly to symphonic structure. Duets also exist particularly for two instruments of similar family, such as the viola and violin, or flute and clarinet, even though pieces for almost any duo combination may be encountered. As cited by Spitzer and Zaslaw, techniques such as polytempo and polystylism have resulted in a few composers writing music where several orchestras perform at the same time. As a consequence, these trends have brought about the phenomenon of polyconductor music, whereby separate sub-conductors conduct every group of musicians. The first piece for the o rchestra is Divertimento in D Major, K. 131 V. Minuet. It was composed by Mozart Amadeus in 1773 at a place called Salzburg. Its catalogue number is K.131. It is the first divertimenti with strings and two horns, a scoring unto which Mozart composed greatest occasional music. The instrumentation include; orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, 4 horns and strings. Its significance was that it supports harmonic and rhythmic texture of occasional music. Besides, it has long notes that are held through changes of harmony, thus producing both harmonic stability and beauty of sonority. The second piece is Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in G Major, K. 216 III, Allegro. It was composed by Wolfgang Mozart on 12 September 1775 in Salzburg. Steinberg established that this piece is in three movements namely allegro, adagio and rondeau. The allegro is in sonata form, opening with a G major theme. It is played by the orchestra. The core theme is bright and happy discussion, between the a ccompaniment and solo violin. The adagio has the movement in ternary form, and in the dominant key of D major. Lastly, the third movement is Rondeau Allegro. The instruments include; viola and violin, flute, string, trombones, and clarinet. This was selected because it opens with an orchestra theme. The third piece is Sinfonia Concertante K. 364-Allegro maestoso. It was composed in 1779 on his tour of Europe, which included Paris and Manheim. The piece uses solo violin, two oboes and horns, solo viola, and strings, the latter including a divided viola section that accounts for the work's rich harmony. The solo viola part has been written in D major in place of E flat major. This technique is utilised mostly in performance on original instruments. The fourth piece is String Quartet No. 19 in C major, K. 465 'Dissonance I. Adagio Allegro. It composed in 1782 and completed on January 14, 1785. It was a dedication to Joseph Hayadh. It signifies that we need to be remorseful to our dep arted friends. The instrumentation includes the cello, two violins and viola.3. OperaCooke asserted that opera was born right at the beginning of the Baroque era, and even though stylistic approaches to the genre have been varied and numerous, the basic outlines have still remained remarkably consistent. It began in Italy at the end of the 16th century and soon spread across the rest of Europe. It is part of the Western classical music tradition. Opera is defined by Andreas, Dorshel in 'The Paradox of Opera', as an art form where musicians and singers perform a dramatic work by combining text known as libretto and musical score in a theatrical setting. Dorshel added that opera usually incorporates numerous elements of spoken theatre, for ins...

How Does America Solve Food Deserts Essay - 1034 Words
How does America Solve Food Deserts? In Eric Holt-Gimenezââ¬â¢s article, ââ¬Å"The Fight over Food Deserts: Corporate America Smacks Its Way Downâ⬠, the author provides answers the food desert epidemic facing the United States today. A food desert is an area in which fresh and nutritious food is not readily available to the masses. Whether it be because of economic or geographic reasons, the fresh ingredients are often scarce and expensive. Gimenez first addresses the corporate aspect of food desert problem and how the big box companies are looking to take advantage of impoverished neighborhoods (Holt-Gimenez 525). Next, Gimenez states a solution to the problem; improving wages for the working class, not providing big business with more money to move into local areas(Holt-Gimenez 526-527). While I agree with Gimenez that having the government fund the big chain stores is not the solution; I do not think that raising the minimum wage is the answer. To solve the food desert pr oblem, the farmers and local grocers need to be funded by the government. First, our nationwide economy cannot support a minimum wage of something like $15 per hour. The United States dollar is not the same in Idaho as it is in Washington. Our dollar carries different values per state and the state by state minimum wages support this. In Washington, the minimum wage is $9.49, while Idaho has the nationally allowed low of $7.25. The Effects Of Sexual Education On Public Schools - 908 Words
How Sexual Education In Public Schools Benefit By: Michelle Schlichting English Composition I November 2015 Sexual education in public schools has many benefits. This is of course if every public school would be willing to provide their students with the opportunity to be able to take this class. Therefore I believe that some sort of sexual education class should be provided to all high school students in public schools. Sexual Education should be taught in high schools for quite a number of reasons including: for the students to become familiar with the human reproductive system, to help reduce the number of unplanned teen pregnancies, to educate the students about STDââ¬â¢s and how to try and prevent them and to inform the students about abstinence. Sexual Education is something you learn throughout the duration of your life. You are constantly learning something new about sexual education every day. Some sort of sexual education should begin when the child is at least a teenager so that away they understand what is being taught to them. So having them start taking a sexual education class their freshmen year of high school will hopefully help them to learn that it is a smart idea to wait on having sex until they are married. Now, just taking a sexual education alone might not be enough to stop students from experimenting with some sorts of sexual activities it will hopefully help prevent less unplanned teen pregnancies and lessen the spread of sexually transmittedShow MoreRelatedThe Effects Of Sexual Education On Public Schools1702 Words à |à 7 PagesI. Sailing The Seas Of Cheese free essay sample
One might guess by glancing at the album title that we are not dealing with your average album. Nor are we dealing with your average band. Primus, a fairly new band with a bottom-heavy groovy funk/rock sound, has got to be one of the most bizarre bands on the music scene today. This makes for 46 minutes of total weirdness, combined with some incredible music. Primus, one of the most successful groups from the San Francisco Bay Areas recent funk/rock explosion, consists of Tim Herb Alexander on drums and water job, Larry LeLonde on electric guitar and six-string banjo, and Les Claypool on various basses, clarinet and vocals. Claypool is the groups frontman, whose odd yet insightful lyrics, complex and slap-happy bass lines and goofy vocal style provide much of the atmosphere for Sailing the Seas of Cheese. This album consists of 13 selections, most with a groovy funk style, such as progressive hits Jerry Was a Race Car Driver, Sgt. We will write a custom essay sample on Sailing The Seas Of Cheese or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Baker and the already classic Tommy the Cat, which features guest vocals from Tom Waits. Some of these are extremely bizarre (yet complex) such as a peculiar Sathington Waltz and a quirky Is it Luck? with its erratic bass line and strange lyrics, (My socks and shoes always match , is it luck?). Unfortunately some songs are brimming with musicality, but are repetitious and rambling like American Life and Fish On (Fishermans Chronicles, Chapter II). My only gripe with the album is that guitarist Larry LeLonde sometimes gets buried in the mix under the bass and drums. I wanted to hear more from him , hes a talented guitarist, as shown on Primus two previous albums (Suck on This and Frizzle Fry). A former student of Joe Satriani, LeLonde is definitely not a weak player and does not deserve to be passed off as texture or color, which one might think when listening to this album. Even his solos are barely audible, which is a shame, because theyre good. Nonetheless, he does pull off some pretty bizarre stuff such as the beginning of a fantastic Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers. Nonetheless, Sailing the Seas of Cheese rocks. Its a must-hear for any bass player (or even people who just enjoy good bass), and for people who enjoy good funk played by a talented band. And hey, even if you dont plan on buying it, the next time youre in a record store, check out the album cover. Great stuff.***** n

The Tragedy Of Hamlet Essays - Shakespearean Tragedies,
The Tragedy of Hamlet Arguably the best piece of writing ever done by William Shakespeare, Hamlet the is the classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the hero suffers, and usually dies at the end. Othello stabs himself, Romeo and Juliet commit suicide, Brutis falls on his sword, and like them Hamlet dies by getting cut with a poison tipped sword. But that is not all that is needed to consider a play a tragedy, and sometimes a hero doesn't even need to die. Making Not every play in which a Hero dies is considered a tragedy. There are more elements needed to label a play one. Probably the most important element is an amount of free will. In every tragedy, the characters must displays some. If every action is controlled by a hero's destiny, then the hero's death can't be avoided, and in a tragedy the sad part is that it could. Hamlet's death could have been avoided many times. Hamlet had many opportunities to kill Claudius, but did not take advantage of them. He also had the option of making his claim public, but instead he chose not too. A tragic hero doesn't need to be good. For example, MacBeth was evil, yet he was a tragic hero, because he had free will. He also had only one flaw, and that was pride. He had many good traits such as bravery, but his one bad trait made him evil. Also a tragic hero doesn't have to die. While in all Shakespearean tragedies, the hero dies, in others he may live but suffer "Moral Destruction". In Oedipus Rex, the proud yet morally blind king plucks out his eyes, and has to spend his remaining days as a wandering, sightless beggar, guided at every painful step by his daughter, Antigone. A misconception about tragedies is that nothing good comes out of them, but it is actually the opposite. In Romeo and Juliet, although both die, they end the feud between the Capulets and the Montegues. Also, Romeo and Juliet can be together in heaven. In Hamlet, although Hamlet dies, it is almost for the best. How could he have any pleasure during the rest of his life, with his parents and Ophelia dead. Also, although Hamlet dies, he is able to kill Claudius and get rid of the evil ruling the throne. Every tragic play must have a tragic hero. The tragic hero must possess many good traits, as well as one flaw, which eventually leads to his downfall. A tragic hero must be brave and noble. In Othello, Othello had one fatal flaw, he was too great. Othello was too brave, too noble, and especially too proud to allow himself to be led back to Venice in chains. A tragic hero must not back down from his position. He also has to have free will, in order to ezd up for what he believes in. Finally, the audience must have some sympathy for the tragic hero. In MacBeth, although MacBeth commits many murders, one almost feels sorry for him and his fate. Hamlet is the perfect example of the tragic hero. Hamlet has all the good traits needed to be a tragic hero. He is brave and daring. One example of this is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk. If his plan didn't work, he would have been executed He also is also loyal. His loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry at Claudius and his Mother. Another trait was that he was intelligent. He was able to think up the idea of faking insanity, in order to get more information about Claudius. But Hamlet like all other tragic hero's had a flaw. He couldn't get around to doing anything, because he couldn't move on. He was a full grown adult, yet he still attended school in England, because he couldn't move on. Also, it took him a long time to stop grieving about his father, because he didn't want to move past that part of his life. And after he finally did, Hamlet couldn't get around to killing Claudius. He kept pretending he was insane even after he was sure that Claudius killed his father.

Health Essays
Medicare And Its Financial State/Health Essays Medicare And Its Financial State/Health Paper Medicare And Its Financial State/Health Paper Medicare is planned health insurance generally for older persons over 65 year old, younger persons with special medical conditions or persons with permanent Kidney failure. Medicare was formally signed into law on July 30, 1965 and has served the American people ever since. It is important to note that it took another year for beneficiaries to sign up for coverage on July 1, 1966. Medicare was operated primarily by the federal government and subsequently other Medicare plans such as Health Maintenance Organization plans (HMOs) and Preferred Provider Organization plans (PPOs) are offered through private organizations. In recent times there has been active debate on the future, finances and scope of this health insurance. Medicare coverage primarily consists of two parts: Part A (the hospital insurance) and Part B (the medical insurance). Part A covers inpatient care at a hospital, hospice, nursing home or home health care. Part B mainly covers health care by doctors, outpatient care or some other medicines to prevent diseases. Medicare coverage offers options in that persons may choose part A, part B or both parts. It is useful to note that other plans: part C and D are now being offered to cover other services such a purchase or prescription drugs. Plans such as HMOs are chiefly for group health insurance plans which are purchased by groups such as companies, while PPOs are plans where health care providers such as clinics and hospitals sign up with the PPO to provide care for persons who are insured with the organization. Persons with Medicare coverage pay less on doctor visits from their pockets albeit, the actual amount paid to the doctor is determined by factors such as whether it is a participating physician, a non-participating physician who accepts assignments on a case-by-case basis or a non-participating doctor who does not accept assignments.. The board of trustees of the Federal Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) trust funds in their report to congress in 2006 state that there was deterioration in Medicareââ¬â¢s financial health since the previous year. This report stated that the Hospital expenditure would exceed non-interest revenue in 2006 and that the trust fund faced serious financial conditions to the extent that there would not be enough resources to provide coverage in future years. In addition the report showed that the federal government would have to proffer addition financial aid which would negatively impact the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It was noted that Hospital Insurance (HI) fund would be depleted in 2019, two years earlier than expected. The projection showed that there would be a need for a serious injection of capital or the future of Medicare would be dire. In its annual report in 2008, the board of trustees of the Federal Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) trust funds, reported that there were still serious problems relating to the financial health of Medicare. The report paints a gloomy picture where the long run costs of running the program would exceed inflows and this process would be unsustainable. A vastly burgeoning number of aging baby boomers would put a serious strain on financial resources of Medicare and fiscal deficits are projected in future years. During the 2008 presidential election, there were debates on what to do with health care for the nation and the new government is actively looking at Medicare with the view to doing a complete overhaul including providing increased funding and coverage. The warnings about the potential demise of Medicare and the deleterious impact on Americaââ¬â¢s aging population has been sounded again by the trustees of (HI) and the new government seems to be awakening to the exigencies that now face the nation. The Medicare report in 2008 pointed to the need for an increase of over 122% in payroll taxes which would mean a move from 2. 9% to 6. 44% to balance inflows with outflows. It is now time for action on the part of the Government to prevent a dismal future for Medicare. References Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (2007). Personal Change Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Personal Change - Essay Example no longer loved my grandmother; instead, it was the result of the fact that she no longer spent so much time watching me due to the fact that I grew up and no longer needed such a high level of care. The ending to the situation came about right after my grandmother had a stroke. It was at this point that she was no longer capable of taking care of herself and required nearly constant care by either a loved one or a professional caretaker. As the situation progressed, I reclused into a type of neutral zone where the feelings, thoughts, and childhood closeness I shared with my grandmother were but a distant memory; although a happy one. Due to the fact that she was just a shell of her former self during this time, it was impossible for me to rebuild the relationship we had once enjoyed during my youth. It was at this point that I made the fateful decision to withdraw myself from her and not spend the time that I would have been happy to spend with her had this occurred during my early youth. Sadly, the new beginning only came after my grandmother had passed away from a second stroke. This new beginning was of course something that I should have realized far sooner but due to my own selfish motives and lack of patience, had not come to grips with yet. Due to my grandmotherââ¬â¢s passing, I instantly regretted the fact that I had not made a more concerted effort to be with her during her final years. Although I still loved her deeply, I realized that it was my own selfish nature that had kept us apart and caused me to miss out on the very last chance I would ever have to speak with and spend time with my grandmother. As the old saying goes, ââ¬Å"you never appreciate something until you lose itâ⬠. In this way, this new beginning caused me to come to a full and complete appreciation for this as well as purposing within my own mind to not let another such situation occur without me doing all my best to spend the quality time with the loved one prior to the risk of

Food Addictives Essay
This food additives essay is basically an advantages and disadvantages essay. You need to be careful with the word ââ¬Ëoutweighââ¬â¢ as this often confuses students. The word ââ¬Ëoutweighââ¬â¢ can be placed in different ways in the sentence so rather than work it out, it is better to think of it simply as ââ¬Ëare there more advantages or disadvantages Decide what you think there are more of and then state this in the thesis statement without mentioning the word ââ¬Ëoutweighââ¬â¢. For example, look at the thesis statement from the food additives essay model answer: In my opinion, the potential dangers from this are greater than the benefits we receive. ââ¬ËOutweighââ¬â¢ questions do suggest, though, that there are definitely both advantages AND disadvantages, so you should discuss both. However, make sure your essay supports your opinion. For example, if you have said there are more disadvantages, it would not make sense to then write mostly about advantages . As you can see from the model answer, advantages are discussed, but the focus is on the disadvantages as this is what it is stated are greater in the thesis statement. Model Essay 15 ââ¬â Food Additives Essay You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Present a written argument to an educated reader with no specialist knowledge of the following topic. Do the dangers derived from the use of chemicals in food production and preservation outweigh the advantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. You should write at least 250 words. www.ieltsbuddy.com ââ¬â Free online IELTS Advice www.ieltsbuddy.com ââ¬â Free online IELTS Advice Food Additives Essay Model Answer Most foods that are purchased these days in small stores and supermarkets have chemicals in them as these are used to improve production and ensure the food lasts for longer. However, there are concerns that these have harmful effects. In my opinion, the potential dangers from this are greater than the benefits we receive. There are several reasons why chemicals are placed in food. Firstly, it is to improve the product to the eye, and this is achieved via the use of colourings which encourage people to purchase food that may otherwise not look tempting to eat. Another reason is to preserve the food. Much of the food we eat would not actually last that long if it were not for chemicals they contain, so again this is an advantage to the companies that sell food as their products have a longer shelf life. From this evidence, it is clear to me that the main benefits are, therefore, to the companies and not to the customer. Although companies claim these food additives are safe and they have research to support this, the research is quite possibly biased as it comes from their own companies or people with connections to these companies. It is common to read reports these days in the press about possible links to various health issues such as cancer. Food additives have also been linked to problems such as hyperactivity in children. To conclude, despite the fact that there are benefits to placing chemicals in food, I believe that these principally help the companies but could be a danger to the public. It is unlikely that this practice can be stopped, so food must be clearly labeled a nd it is my hope that organic products will become more readily available at reasonable prices to all.
